This month, we’re focusing on getting grounded, steady and strong, so we can move with more confidence and ease. “Root to Rise” is about building from the ground up — feeling connected to your body, your breath and your practice. When we move from a place of stability, we can challenge ourselves in a way that feels supported rather than rushed or forced.

In yoga, we often talk about grounding through the feet or the hands, especially in standing poses or arm balances. It means pressing down into the mat with purpose. That simple action gives you a sense of direction and balance. From that point, you can start to lift — not just physically, but in energy and focus. That’s where the idea of “rising” comes in. You’re not floating up aimlessly. You’re pushing down to go up, with strength and control.

This theme runs through everything: how we move, how we breathe, even how we respond to challenges. You’ll notice a lot of flows this month that start slow, with time to feel into the base of each pose — your feet, hands, legs, or core, and then build up from there. It’s not about rushing into the next shape. It’s about setting yourself up well, finding a strong base, and only then moving forward.

Some of the practices are more energising, where we work on standing poses, balancing, or transitions that ask you to stay steady. Others are slower and more focused on breath and awareness. You’ll also find some breathwork and meditation sessions to support the theme. These help calm the mind, slow things down, and give space to notice how you feel — not just in your body, but in your thoughts and emotions too.

This month is also a chance to check in with your habits. Do you usually rush into poses without thinking? Or do you avoid anything that challenges your balance or strength? Can you use this theme to do things differently — to pause, to feel, and to move with more attention? This kind of awareness helps you not only in yoga, but in everything else you do. When your base is steady, you can show up better for yourself and for others.

If you want more direction, the monthly calendar is planned to guide you through a mix of flows, breathwork and meditation. Each day builds on the last, and everything ties back to the theme. Whether it’s a stronger session, a gentler stretch, or a few quiet minutes of stillness, it’s all part of this idea of grounding first, then rising.

Whatever level you’re at, this month is about giving yourself the time to settle, move, and grow in a way that feels strong but calm. We don’t always need to push hard. Sometimes it’s more powerful to just slow down, feel your feet on the ground, and build from there.
