February often arrives with very little drama. January has done its big reset moment, the routines are either settling or wobbling, and life quietly carries on. This is usually the point where people start asking themselves a different question, not “how do I start again?” but “how do I actually keep going?”

That’s why the February theme is Everyday Strength.

Not the kind of strength that leaves you exhausted on the mat, or sore for days afterwards. And definitely not the kind that makes you feel like you need to be fitter, stronger, or more disciplined before you even begin. This month is about the strength you already use every single day, often without noticing.

Standing up from a chair. Carrying bags. Sitting at a desk without collapsing into your lower back. Walking upstairs. Staying upright when you’re tired. These are small things, but they add up. And when the body doesn’t feel supported, they can start to feel heavier than they should.

After January’s Back Basics, which was all about easing pain and rebuilding trust, February gently shifts the focus. We’re not fixing anything. We’re not pushing limits. We’re simply building a bit more support so everyday life feels easier to carry.

A lot of people think strength means effort. That it has to feel hard to count. But in yoga, especially the way I teach it, strength is often quieter than that. It’s in the slow transitions, the steady holds, the ability to stay present without bracing or rushing. It’s the kind of strength that shows up when you move with control instead of momentum.

That’s what this month is about.

Everyday strength is functional. It supports your joints, your posture, your balance, and your confidence in movement. It helps your body do what it already needs to do, just with a little more ease. And importantly, it doesn’t demand all your energy. You don’t have to empty the tank to build it.

The practices this month are mostly short to medium length, with clear structure and repetition. You’ll notice familiar shapes coming back again and again, not because we’ve run out of ideas, but because repetition is how strength actually builds. Not through novelty, but through consistency.

You’ll work on legs that support you when you stand and walk. Hips and glutes that help take pressure off the lower back. Core support that isn’t about tightening or gripping, but about feeling steady and connected. Upper body strength that helps with posture, desk work, and all the things we do with our arms without thinking about it.

There will be strong days, but there will also be lighter ones. Because strength without recovery doesn’t last very long. The calendar is designed so you can practise three or four times a week and still feel like you have energy left for the rest of your life. And if some weeks you only manage one or two sessions, that still counts.

This is something I say a lot, but it’s worth repeating. Yoga doesn’t work because you do everything perfectly. It works because you keep coming back, even when it’s a bit messy. Consistency is the key.

Everyday strength also isn’t just physical. There’s something quietly supportive about knowing you can show up for yourself in a small, manageable way. Choosing a 20 minute practice instead of nothing. Repeating a class because it felt helpful. Resting when you need to. That’s strength too, even if it doesn’t look impressive. That’s called self discipline and it is more important than motivation.

If you’ve ever felt like strength-based yoga wasn’t for you, because it felt too fast, too intense, or too focused on shapes you’re not interested in, this month is for you. There’s no peak pose to work towards. No pressure to progress. Just a steady exploration of what it feels like to be supported in your body.

And if you do enjoy stronger practices, you might notice something interesting. When strength is built slowly and with awareness, it often feels more sustainable. Less draining. More useful. You might find that things you normally rush through feel steadier, or that you don’t have to work quite as hard to hold yourself up.

That’s the kind of change we’re looking for.

February’s calendar is there to guide you, not to control your practice. You can follow it day by day, dip in and out, or repeat the same class for a whole week if that’s what your body needs. There’s no right way to do it. The most important thing is that it feels supportive, not like another task on your list.

If you’re practising on-demand, you’ll find a mix of full body flows, focused strength sessions, slower vinyasa classes, and gentler days to balance things out. Everything is designed to work together, but nothing will fall apart if you skip a day or change the order.

That flexibility matters. Because real life doesn’t follow a perfect schedule, and your yoga practice doesn’t need to either.

As we move through February, my hope is that you start to feel a little more capable in your body. Not stronger in a dramatic way, but steadier. More at home. More supported. The kind of strength that doesn’t shout, but quietly shows up when you need it.

If you’re already a member, the February calendar is waiting for you, and I’d love for you to follow along in whatever way works best for you.

And if you’re not a member yet, this month is a really good place to start. You don’t need to practise every day, and you don’t need to be strong already. You just need to begin where you are. There are more than 160 videos to choose from and the platform makes it easy to find what you need. You can filter by length, focus area and style, and bookmark favourites so they are ready next time. If you like a path, the monthly calendar will guide you. Strength isn’t about doing more. Sometimes it’s about doing what’s needed, and letting that be enough.

I’ll see you on the mat.
