After spending May focusing on flexibility and opening through the hips and hamstrings, June feels like a natural next step.

This month inside the membership, the theme is Strengthen What’s Open.

Because once the body starts to move a little more freely, we also need support around those ranges.

Flexibility and mobility are important, but without strength, movement can start to feel unstable quite quickly. Sometimes people notice this in balance poses, sometimes in transitions, and sometimes simply in everyday life. The body moves into a bigger range, but there’s not quite enough support around it yet.

That’s why this month we’re focusing on building strength in a manageable way. We’ll be working a lot with glutes, core, hips, and legs throughout the month. These areas play such an important role in stability and overall movement, especially after spending time improving flexibility.

For example, the glutes help stabilise the pelvis and support balance. The core helps control movement and create support through transitions. Strong hips help everything feel steadier and more comfortable.

And this kind of strength isn’t only useful for yoga. It supports how we move every day. Walking. Standing. Climbing stairs. Carrying bags. Sitting for long periods and getting up again. The aim this month is to help movement feel more reliable.

You’ll probably notice that the sessions feel a little stronger than April and May, but still very approachable. There will still be mobility and stretching throughout the month, because the goal isn’t to become tight or rigid. Instead, we’re learning how to support the space we’ve already created.

One thing I think is important to mention is that strength work doesn’t always have to feel dramatic to be effective. Sometimes the slower, simpler movements are actually the ones that challenge us most. Holding a position steadily. Moving with control. Repeating something a few times and noticing where the body starts to wobble. That’s often where the real work happens.

And just like every month, there’s no expectation to do everything perfectly. You don’t need to complete every session. You don’t need to feel strong all the time. You don’t need to push through exhaustion.

Even one or two consistent sessions a week can make a noticeable difference.

Over time, you may notice:

  • better balance
  • steadier transitions
  • more support through the hips and lower back
  • feeling stronger in everyday movement
  • more confidence in your practice

And often, strength brings a different kind of ease. The body feels more capable. Movements feel steadier. There’s less effort spent trying to hold everything together.

That’s what we’re aiming for this month.

The June calendar is designed to guide you gradually through this process. Some sessions will focus more on lower body strength, some on core stability, and others will combine strength and mobility together in flowing movement.

There will also be gentler days included, because recovery matters too. You don’t build strength only during the harder sessions. The body also needs time to absorb the work.

And if stronger flows usually feel intimidating to you, I really encourage you not to switch off from this month completely. Everything will still be adaptable. You can pause. You can modify. You can take things slowly.

The goal is simply about helping you build a little more support in your body over time.

If you’re already a member, you can start following the June calendar and move through the sessions at your own pace.

If you’re not yet a member, this is a really good month to join if you’d like to feel stronger without needing long or overly intense workouts. The sessions are manageable, supportive, and designed to fit around everyday life.

You can also explore everything with a 5-day free trial and see how the practice feels for you. https://www.aysegulyoga.com/progress-packs/

Sometimes building strength isn’t about doing more. It’s about moving with a little more control, a little more consistency, and giving the body the support it needs. And over time, that changes how everything feels. 🧘🏻‍♀️

See you inside.
